The Center for Workforce Equity partnered with the College of Business at Chicago State University to reignite their Career Industry Day Panel Series. The initiative’s reintroduction beginning the Fall 2025 semester, kicked off with a focus on careers in insurance, healthcare, and government, offering students valuable exposure to high-demand industries. The series, which offers sought after industry data analysis and workforce insights, helps students and professionals better orient themselves to the current workforce trends and future employment opportunities within industries they best align to.
As a part of the panel series, we were excited to welcome Chicago State University alumni such as Eric Cockle, Freddie Newman, Jr., Erica Williams, Ciera Whitaker, Donte Taylor, and many other Chicago, IL native industry leaders back to campus to serve as panelists, one of which, Rebekah Ratcliff, widely known as “The Insurance Auntie,” and featured panelist for the Careers in Insurance: Addressing Misconceptions about the Insurance Industry, sponsored two Chicago State University College of Business students to attend the HBCU Insurance Symposium in Philadelphia, PA, a national student-focused conference bringing together students annually from HBCUs and PBIs across the United States for an immersive experience in the insurance industry.

The Center for Workforce Equity is excited to continue partnerships with all of Chicago State University’s Academic Colleges and Departments to ensure industry leaders are brought to the table to share invaluable insights on current workforce trends, professionalism, and the need to knows of various industries that will better prepare our students to position themselves as standout, highly sought after professionals in today’s workforce.
