The Mentoring program is designed to assist Latino students persist in college by providing incoming freshmen and new transfer students opportunities to learn from mentors who serve as coaches, role models, advisors, guides and referral agents. The mentoring program provides additional support for first-year students by connecting them with experienced juniors and seniors and engaging them through team-building exercises, cultural and social activities, and counseling sessions.
In unison with the Chicago State University Latino faculty, staff and the CSU Foundation, the Latino Resource Center established a scholarship fund to assist all Latino students at CSU. Beginning in 2003, we embarked on an ambitious campaign to raise the financial resources to support our deserving Latino students. With your help, we want to ensure that these students fulfill their academic potential and realize their dream of completing their college education. If you like to donate to the LRC Scholarship Fund please visit: The University Foundation at Chicago State University. Please specify that your donation is specifically for the LRC Scholarship Fund. ¡Gracias!
In line with its mission, the Latino Resource Center provides a number of cultural events and activities for prospective students, current students, and the CSU community at large. Some of these workshops include developing self-confidence and soft skills, resume building, interviewing tips, dinner etiquette, professional branding, and how to develop an elevator speech.
