Chicago State University - Fall 2023 |
When: Thursday, October 26, 2023 |
Time: 8:30am - 5:00pm |
Location: Gwendolyn Brooks Library |
What is it?
The first annual Chicago Inclusive Teaching Symposium is a regional gathering where faculty and faculty developers can learn, share, network, and develop strategies for creating inclusive, reflective, and intentional courses and classroom communities.
During this day-long event at the beautiful Gwendolyn Brooks Library at Chicago State University, participants will hear from expert panels and join their peers in interactive workshops on topics like inclusive syllabi; diversifying course materials, critical reflection, and antiracist pedagogy.
This year’s symposium will focus on the relationship between values & practice, with real-life examples and strategies for moving beyond the diversity statement and towards authentic teacher-student relationships and learning community.
How to participate
Have a story or some lessons learned that you’d like to share with a wider audience? Or maybe you have an innovative workshop that you’ve led at your own campus that you’d like to get feedback on. Participants are invited to submit proposals for one-hour panel presentations (45 minutes plus Q&A) or 75-minute interactive workshops. Proposals are due by September 6, 2023 and should be submitted using the link below:
