2026 Cougar Servant Leadership Awards

The Cougar Servant Leadership Awards are presented to leaders with tremendous dedication, exceptional service, and outstanding leadership that have helped transform Chicago and Illinois. The categories recognized are Education Equity, Public Service, and Alumni Achievement.

We are proud to recognize John C. Robak, former Chairman and CEO of Greeley and Hansen, as our 2026 Cougar Servant Leader for Public Service.

John’s leadership reflects a deep commitment to strengthening Chicago through civic service, philanthropy, and expanding opportunity. As former Chair of the Chicago State Foundation Board, he helped advance critical support for CSU students and the University’s mission. Today, he continues that service as a member of the Chicago State University Board of Trustees.

John’s impact extends across the city. Through his leadership with the Chicago Police Foundation, he helped raise millions of dollars to support public safety initiatives and strengthen community partnerships. As a former Chairman of Chicago United, he championed inclusive leadership and equitable economic opportunity, while his service across numerous civic and nonprofit organizations has contributed to a stronger, more connected Chicago.

John embodies servant leadership through integrity, purpose, and a sustained commitment to community impact. We are honored to celebrate his remarkable contributions as our Cougar Servant Leader for Public Service.
